About The Lodge
Kirawira Serena Camp, a Serengeti safari lodge, offers both the stylish trappings of yesteryear and the thrill of living in the moment as incredible wildlife dramas play out on the sea of grass that is the Serengeti savannah. Located near the Western Corridor, it lies on the annual migration route.

Their mindset may no longer be in fashion, but there’s something undeniably romantic about the style of some of the early safari pioneers, and at Kirawira Serena Camp there are authentic hints of it in the tented accommodation overlooking the striking Kirawira Plains. Being under canvas in Africa is sure to stir anyone’s sense of adventure, and the location of this Serengeti safari lodge makes adventures not merely possible, but almost inevitable.
In addition to the plains – which begin of course on the doorstep of the lodge – excursions are also offered to Lake Victoria (for fishing) and to the Grumeti River, home to crocodiles who grow to immense sizes despite (practically) eating only during migration.
Closer to the lodge, twice daily game drives offer the opportunity to find and enjoy wildlife feeding, breeding or even fleeing from the many predators that are also found here. Happily, it’s a myth that once the migration has passed through, the Serengeti is empty. Nothing could be further from the truth – and time spent at Kirawira Serena Camp will amply illustrate that, thanks to the many animals that are resident year round.
Guided nature and bird walks, setting off from the lodge, allow guests to focus on some of the smaller – but no less important – details that contribute to this remarkable ecosystem. Sundowners and bush meals combine two of the greatest safari pleasures: al fresco dining and drinking, and simply being in the great outdoors … and it doesn’t come much greater than the Western Corridor of Tanzania’s Serengeti.
