Day by day
Nairobi
Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya, where your Wildlife Safari representative will meet and assist you through immigration and customs. Your Wildlife Safari Guest Manager will take you by private vehicle to your elegant boutique hotel, Hemingways Nairobi. Enjoy a ‘welcome’ safari briefing with the rest of the day at leisure, taking in the magnificent views of the Ngong hills.
Nairobi
After breakfast at the hotel, set off on your day excursion in and around Nairobi, starting with the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, where you can watch delightful orphan elephants during feeding time while they frolic with their keepers. Enjoy lunch at a nearby café followed by a shopping stop at Utamaduni, where you’ll see a great selection of African art and crafts. Continue to the Giraffe Centre, where you’ll have the opportunity to feed magnificent Rothschild’s giraffes before returning to Hemingways Nairobi.
Amboseli
After breakfast at Hemingways Nairobi, you’ll set off in your 4WD vehicle towards Namanga with your safari guide. As soon as you enter Amboseli National Park, your game viewing will commence. After lunch at Amboseli Serena Lodge, limitless adventures, discoveries and delights await young guests, with activities designed to give them the chance to explore the breathtaking beauty of Amboseli and enjoy the vibrant culture and warm hospitality of the Maasai people. If you accept an invitation to plant an acacia tree as part of the Amboseli Reforestation Project (created by Wildlife Safari and Serena Hotels) you’ll receive a commemorative certificate. Return to Amboseli Serena Lodge for dinner.
Amboseli
Set off early on your morning game drive in anticipation that Mount Kilimanjaro’s snow-covered peak is clear, and enjoy a private family breakfast at Observation Hill. Later, enjoy an afternoon game drive around the many lakes and springs fed by Kilimanjaro’s melting snows in search of Amboseli’s legendary elephant herds. Children can participate in guided nature walks as well as learn about the Maasai warriors, how to do Maasai beadwork and all about animal-tracking techniques. This evening you’ll be treated to a lantern-lit bush dinner, under a grove of acacia trees while Maasai warriors entertain you with song and dance.
Great Rift Valley
Enjoy breakfast before departing for the Great Rift Valley, boasting hot springs, geysers, volcanoes and some of the oldest, largest and deepest lakes in the world. The alkaline shallow soda lakes are famous for their flamingo flocks gathering to feed and breed along the lakeshore. Arrive at Loldia House sitting on a farm on the banks of Lake Naivasha, one of two freshwater lakes on the rift. Settle in and spend the afternoon relaxing while taking in the magnificent views while your Wildlife Safari guide arranges some special activities. Enjoy dinner and end the day off under the star-studded sky.
Great Rift Valley
After breakfast at Governors’ Loldia House, visit nearby Lake Nakuru National Park, known for its flamingos and being a breeding sanctuary for both black and white rhinos. Here, enjoy a guided trek along the lakeshore and a game drive. You can relax with a picnic lunch before returning to your lodge, or you may venture a little further to Lake Baringo and spend the day bird and game viewing around the lake with a picnic lunch at the hot springs. Dinner is at Governors’ Loldia House.
Masai Mara
After breakfast set off on a scenic drive along the Great Rift Valley floor and enter Masai Mara National Reserve, where you immediately begin game viewing and passing wildlife herds on the vast savannah plains. Arrive at Governors Camp, which rests peacefully in a riverine forest on the banks of the Mara River. Settle into your classic safari-style family tent, overlooking the plains of the Masai Mara. Freshen up and head out on an afternoon game drive returning to enjoy dinner and end off sharing stories around the campfire.
Masai Mara
Enjoy two full days of exceptional game viewing in the Masai Mara, spotting a vast array of games plain, and always keeping an eye out for lion, leopard and cheetah, which are found in greater concentrations in the Masai Mara than anywhere else in Africa. Your Wildlife Safari guide can arrange an extended game viewing drive, travelling further from other vehicles and visitors with a picnic lunch provided from your camp. On your return enjoy dinner at Governors’ Camp or weather permitting, enjoy a special dinner under the stars around a glowing fire.
Depart
After a final morning game drive, enjoy breakfast at Governors’ Camp before your transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. Here, your Wildlife Safari representative will meet and transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward travel arrangements.

Destinations on this trip

Kenya has as good a claim as anywhere to being the country where modern safaris began, and where they’re done best, and it still regularly features high on travel magazines ‘must-visit’ lists. Kenya has been doing what it does best for decades, and yet there’s always something new to discover on Kenya safaris.

Amboseli is known as Kenya’s land of giants, and it’s not hard to see why. Africa’s tallest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, towers over the national park, and it’s also one of the best places in East Africa to encounter elephant in numbers. No wonder people use superlatives to describe Amboseli safaris.

Lake Naivasha safaris take you to a literal and metaphorical oasis, offering a change of pace without any reduction in wildlife-viewing opportunities. Renowned for its spectacular birdlife, Naivasha nevertheless has a number of other feathers in its cap. While easily reached from Nairobi, it feels a million miles from the hustle of the city.

The place that launched a thousand clips, and millions of images. There’s no more iconic safari destination than Kenya’s Masai Mara, with its eponymous tribespeople, millions of thundering hooves, and equal parts drama, magic and romance. Kenya itineraries without Masai Mara safaris are almost unthinkable, and every moment spent there is unforgettable.
