Immerse yourself in wild Africa on this seven-day safari exploring the savannah plains of the Serengeti. After a luxurious night in Arusha, you’ll be flying off into the southern Serengeti for three nights, exploring the area on day and night drives, walking safaris and tribal experiences. Next, you’ll head off, following the herds, for two heart-pumping days living amid the migration.
Day by day
Arusha
On arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you’ll be welcomed by a Wildlife Safari representative who’ll escort you to Legendary Lodge, set on a working coffee plantation on the foothills of Mount Meru. Settle in, relax and let the adventure begin.
Serengeti
Enjoy breakfast before a road transfer to Arusha Airport for your light aircraft flight into the Serengeti. On arrival, you’ll be welcomed and driven to Mwiba Lodge, perched on the boulders of a gorge overlooking the Arugusinyai River. Settle into your suite and relax on your private deck watching the river below. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive, returning after nightfall for dinner, fit for a king.
Serengeti
Rise to the sound of the birds, enjoy a hot cup of coffee and set off on your morning game drive where you’ll be spotting herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle, along with buffalo, elephant and giraffe, to name a few. The game viewing here won’t disappoint you – whenever you travel and is truly remarkable. Back at the lodge, take some time to relax, enjoy a siesta or take a dip in the rim-flow pool, game watching as you wallow. Drive through the golden grasslands on your afternoon wildlife viewing expedition, sip your favourite sundowner and watch as the creature of the night emerge. End the day with dinner as the sounds of the night fill the air.
Serengeti
Today brings a choice of activities, both morning and evening game drives are on the cards, or if you prefer, a guided walking safari is the order of the day. You’ll get to accompany the Hadzabe hunter-gatherer tribe, following honey-guide birds as they forage. You can also visit a Datoga Village and learn about their culture. End up back at the lodge for dinner and a crackling log fire.
Serengeti
An early start to the day for another exhilarating morning game drive, followed by breakfast and, you’re off, flying to a new Serengeti location. You’ll be staying at one of Legendary’s Migrational Camps, dependent on the time of year and moving with the migration, either Songa or Nyasi, surrounded by plains of golden grassland and in the heart of the migration. Stay in an exquisite en-suite tented room, make full use of the main tent’s lounge and dining room. End the days with good company around the boma’s fire pit.
Serengeti
Another day to experience this vast and un-spoilt wilderness. Besides the wildebeest migration for which the park is famous, it also supports a large diversity of wildlife that fills the open plains. You’ll always be on the lookout for the Big-5 – lion, elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo and the elusive leopard – perhaps you’ll be lucky enough to see a predator stalking its prey. Enjoy meals and leisure time at the lodge.
Depart
After a final morning game drive, enjoy breakfast before your airstrip transfer and flight to Arusha Airport where you can continue with your onward travel arrangements.

Destinations on this trip
Tanzania is an East African safari powerhouse, not least because in the Serengeti it features one of the greatest of all wilderness areas, and the backdrop for the annual Great Wildebeest Migration. Factor in Indian Ocean Islands, too, and it’s clear that Tanzania safaris can be all things to all people.
The Serengeti takes its name from a Maasai word meaning ‘where the land runs on forever’. It’s one of the most evocative and iconic safari destinations of all – not least because it’s the stage on which much of the drama of the Great Wildebeest Migration is played out each year.
