DAY 1
Nairobi
Welcome to Kenya! Disembark in Nairobi to be met by a representative to meet and assist you through immigration and customs before your guest manager escorts you by private vehicle to Nairobi Serena Hotel. Settle in and recover from your international flight with the rest of the day at your leisure.
Samburu
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before a road transfer to Wilson Domestic Airport for your light aircraft flight into Samburu National Reserve. On arrival, Larsens Camp will transfer you to your accommodation, set in the shade of palm trees on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Take some time to unpack and relax before heading out on your first game drive in the late afternoon. End the day off with a delicious meal while overlooking the river.
Samburu
Set off on an early morning game drive in the 4×4 Land Cruiser, taking in the beautiful Samburu landscape with its dry plains, meandering rivers and distant Mount Kenya in the background. Return to camp, kick back and relax in the camp’s pool or soak in the warm jacuzzi. As the cool air filters in on your afternoon game drive and the sun begins to set, savour a sundowner as you see the nightlife awakening. Enjoy dinner and a crackling campfire to end off a perfect day.
Samburu
Experience another day of game viewing around Samburu, keeping your eyes peeled for the Samburu Special Five; beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk and Somali ostrich. But, that’s not all, the park also has a good number of lion, leopard and of course, elephants. Returning to camp after your late afternoon game drive, enjoy dinner with a view and a star-studded African sky.
Masai Mara
Departing after breakfast, transfer to Samburu airstrip for your light aircraft flight to the Masai Mara. Governors Camp will be awaiting your arrival at the airstrip and then a short game-drive transfer to the camp, which rests peacefully in a riverine forest on the banks of the Mara River. Settle into your classic safari-style tent, freshen up and head out on your first game drive. Enjoy dinner before ending the day around the crackling campfire.
Masai Mara
Wake at the crack of dawn and head off in your open-sided 4×4 game viewing vehicle, for some of the Masai Mara’s exceptional game viewing. Witness the sun rising over the savannah grasslands, the silhouette of giraffe, elephant, wildebeest – and many more – on the horizon. Return to camp for lunch and leisure before you’re back on the vehicle for your next game drive. Perhaps the Big-5 is on the cards this afternoon? Enjoy dinner and let the sounds of the night surround you at the campfire under the star-filled African sky.
Masai Mara
As the sun rises, enjoy another game drive through the Masai Mara. Spotting zebra, topi, eland, impala, to name but a few, and keeping in mind that lion, leopard and cheetah are found in greater concentrations in the Masai Mara than anywhere else in Africa. Relish the day at leisure, using the facilities at the lodge before heading out on your next game spotting expedition, watching the sunset over the African bush. Enjoy dinner and a crackling fire.
Depart
Enjoy a last morning game drive and breakfast back at camp before departing to the airstrip for your flight to Wilson Domestic Airport. You’ll be met by your Wildlife Safari Representative and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward travel arrangements.

Destinations on this trip
Kenya has as good a claim as anywhere to being the country where modern safaris began, and where they’re done best, and it still regularly features high on travel magazines ‘must-visit’ lists. Kenya has been doing what it does best for decades, and yet there’s always something new to discover on Kenya safaris.
The place that launched a thousand clips, and millions of images. There’s no more iconic safari destination than Kenya’s Masai Mara, with its eponymous tribespeople, millions of thundering hooves, and equal parts drama, magic and romance. Kenya itineraries without Masai Mara safaris are almost unthinkable, and every moment spent there is unforgettable.
Samburu is the ‘other Kenya’ – this semi-arid region in the north of the country feels very different to say the Masai Mara or Amboseli. It’s much drier and the scenery is more rugged. Even the wildlife is different, with species that aren’t found elsewhere in Kenya. What’s not to enjoy about Samburu safaris?
